Make Up with Oily Face

Flawless, smooth and clean makeup is always my dream as I am having oily skin. Besides, I also have high forehead which make my complexion look worst then it is when it shine. These two constructive effects make my face look oily rather than shining or radiant. My makeup looks patchy and doesn’t last long.

To avoid this, I always look for oil control products, hoping that it helps to reduce oil production. Some of it helps, but some caused my complexion becomes dry and peeling off. I had hard time trying out new products in the market hoping I will finally get something suits me.

However, I got some tips to share with people who are having the same problem.

  • Wear as little makeup as possible.
    • This allows makeup to look more natural without the patchy and blotchy feel.
    • Besides, as I apply less makeup, I spend less time on removing it and my face naturally do not lost that much of moisture compare to last time.
    • It is easier to touch up in the mid-day if needed as the foundation layer is thin. I just need to blotch off the oily layer and re-apply a thin layer of foundation. This can last me the whole day looking good.
  • Blotch off extra oil
    • Always use blotting paper to blotch off oil and touchup after that.
  • No shining and shimmering makeup
    • As oily complexion always shine after a while, stay away from these shimmering makeups especially foundation to avoid over-shinning face.
    • Used minimal lip gloss as this make face looks oilier.
    • Keep blusher soft and natural.
    • Use powder blush rather than cream blush as cream blush contain oil.
  • Foundation
    • Use one color lighter than skin color to cover up the darkening caused by oil
    • Use loose powder to keep face looks clean
    • Use powder foundation rather than cream and mousse foundation
    • Use oil control foundation if possible

Besides the above tips, a balance diet is important to a healthy looking complexion. Used light makeup to highlight the best features of your face rather than keep covering up the unpleasant flaws.

Apple Detoxification Diet

An apple a day, keeps the doctors away. Does this slogan sound very familiar? Have you ever think apples can do more than keep you away from doctor?

I accidentally discovered apple detoxification diet from one website, which I cannot recapture the website address now. It looks simple and easy to carry out when I read about it and I decided to give it a try.

It was one of the boring Saturday that I decided to keep myself out from food and people. I prepared two different types of apples for that day and take it from time to time as I felt hungry. I felt completely fine in the morning and I thought I might be the healthy few people that do not experience detoxification side effect…dizziness.

Come to late afternoon, the discomforts started and I felt lethargic and dizzy. So…I made myself “hibernated” from then onwards. Besides that, I do not have any other symptoms. In fact, I don’t feel hungry even though I only took apples the whole day. I was quite surprise on this as I always tempted to good foods and always have the desire to munch.

The first experience is quite pleasant except for the dizziness. So I decided to continue on the following weekend. This time, I do not have symptoms of dizziness and tiredness as the previous time. I can even go shopping and watched movie on that day! And so….I continued this remedy for few weeks.

I started to notice the improvements from the forth week I started this diet. My complexion gets better. Not only with less breakouts, but also more radiance on my face! This is really rewarding as I always looking out for products that make my skin more radiant and even tone. Some of my friends asked me whether I changed my regular skin care products! I proudly told them no, I changed my diet.

Besides, the other improvement for me is my constipation problem. Although I used to take lots of fruits and vegetables everyday, I just do not have the habit of going toilet everyday. Now…I am doing my big business every morning smoothly.

Apple detoxification diet is very simple and easy to follow. You can skip if you are physically not fit or when you are busy. Just take a day rest at home and eat nothing but apples for 24 hours. You can take as mush as you want when you are hungry. You can take the raw apples to save the trouble of cooking or make into juices.

Lactose Intolerance

Milk has always been associated with healthy life as it contains high calcium, vitamins and essential minerals. Unfortunately, most adults can't digest a significant amount of lactose; a kind of sugar found in milk. Hence, this condition is called lactose intolerance.

Lactose intolerance is different from cow's milk intolerance although both conditions shared similar symptoms such as diarrhea, gas and cramp. Cow's milk intolerance is an allergic reaction triggered by immune system.
Lactase is an enzyme produced in the cells lining the small intestine. It helps to break down (digest) lactose into glucose and galactose which is then absorbed into the bloodstream.

There are three types of lactose intolerance:

  1. Primary lactose intolerance
This is the most comment intolerance developed over time. As we grow, we consumed less milk then infant. Our body in turn produces less lactose. Some believed this starts as early as when we were two years old but most people do not noticed it until an old age.
  2. Secondary lactose intolerance
This is induced by the environment such as injury to the small intestine, exposure to intestinal parasites and others which disturb the cells producing lactase.
  3. Congenital lactose deficiency
This is a genetically inherited condition present at birth and can be diagnosed in early infancy.

Since it is an "acceptable" condition for most people, it takes minimal efforts to avoid or reduce its occurrences and symptoms.

  • avoid lactose containing products such as milk, yogurt, cheese etc
  • substitute with lactose-free milk or milk product
  • lactase supplement

Lactose intolerance is a very common condition affecting 70% of the population. However, it is not a life threatening condition. With proper diet, we can obtain the same nutrition and yet not compromising on our quality of life with discomforts result from lactose intolerance.
